If you have something you’d like to add to the next newsletter (including a brief update on what you and/or your family have been doing since last we met together), let us know at stpaulsjeff@gmail.com
Last week we were pleased to welcome one-time member Patty Simmonds and friend Ed Raker to our worship service. Carol informs us that Patty’s parents Hal and Gerrie had attended St. Paul’s since the 1940s and Patty recalls with fondness her years growing up at St. Paul’s. Hal and Gerrie owned and operated Simmonds Perforing Arts from 1951 – 2019 but during that time Hal discerned a call to ordained ministry and after seminary Reverend Hal served as vicar at St. Paul’s. He then moved on to churches in Henryville and Seymour. The lovely quilted banner was given to the church by Patty’s mother Gerrie and was displayed on Pentecost Sunday. The affection felt toward the Simmonds family is evident in the gorgeous window given in memory of Rev. Hal and Gerrie.
The Body of Christ is a rich tapestry of stories such as the Simmonds’ and though we may find ourselves in different places and though life takes us in different directions we never leave the ‘family.’ Blessings to Patty, Ed and families and thanks to Max and Carol for inviting Patty and Ed to worship with us!
