St Paul's PIpe Organ project

St Paul's was given the amazing offer of a 10 rank pipe organ for the church to complete the restoration of the church building. (our orginal 1894 instrument was destroyed in the 1937 fllood and a replacement instrument was destroyed in the 1981 fire). After a a feasibility study the Vestry accepted the gift of the instrument in December 2012 and we began the planning and fundraising  needed to install the instrument at St Paul's.

The publicity around our on-line fundraising resulted in the involvement of singer/ song writer James Taylor. (See the James Taylor Church). We have secured the funding and in the Spring of 2013 began to work on many facets of the installationj process.. Much of the work is being done by our volunteer organ builder James Miller with sweat equity of the members of  the parish and other volunteers under Jim's direction.

The instrument itself was put together by Sylvester Kohler, a Louisville organ builder, for his home.  It is made up of outstanding ranks of pipes from other instruments. It has a broad tonal range for an instrument its size that will add to the versatility in worship and for concerts.

We have appreciated and welcomed the encouragment and participation of the larger community in restoring our musical heritage.

We anxiously await hearing this instrument when fully restored and installed.
